In order to reduce the adverse impacts of overpopulation, mitigation measures, such as spreading awareness and education about overpopulation, enacing birth control measures and regulations, and providing universal access to birth control devices and family planning, must be taken. By averaging 1.5 children, total world population would decline by 2100 to about 5 billion – less than half the elevenbillion projected. A great achievement for humanity. A 1 child average would reduce total populationby a billion people by 2060 – back to six billion. And by 2100bwe would be below 3 billion – cutting our human consumption by more than half from its current levels.
